Meet Joel Bingham, a recent psychology honours graduate with a rich background in early childhood education and therapy assistance. Joel's journey began with three transformative years in Japan, where he immersed himself as an English as a second language instructor for young children. Working in a play-based, naturalistic learning environment under a child behaviour specialist sparked Joel's fascination with developmental psychology, setting him on the path to pursue postgraduate studies in the field.
Throughout his academic journey, Joel honed his skills as a therapy assistant, specialising in behavioural interventions for adolescents facing complex mental and physical disabilities. Guided by experts in Positive Behaviour Support and Behaviour Analysis, Joel thrived in developing effective behaviour management strategies and building strong rapport with his clients.
After returning home from ten years away, Joel is excited to begin a career in the early intervention space as a valued member at Kindred Kids. Joel shares the ideological values and ethos of the company and hopes to assist children and their families in reaching their full potential and teaching the world empathy and understanding of complex needs. Joel feels he is well placed to excel and develop into a professional practitioner, ultimately for the enrichment of the children and families within the community.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Joel finds joy in permaculture, seasonal living, and outdoor adventures like bike touring and overnight hiking. With a deep-seated passion for music, Joel comes from a musically inclined background and enjoys playing various instruments, right now he is tinkering with pianos and synthesisers. You might catch him infusing his sessions with music, as he believes in bringing creativity and joy into every moment.
Next time you see Joel at Kindred Kids, be sure to say hello!
