Meet the Team: Sam

Hello to all our current and newly appointed families,

My name is Sam, and I recently joined the team at Kindred Kids in October last year!

With such a busy end to 2023, I did not get to formally introduce myself to all of you. I

thought the beginning of 2024 would be a perfect time to do this.

I have been appointed as an Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) Practitioner and part of my role is to implement the ESDM and GESDM sessions. I work closely with Erin, our Lead ESDM

Practitioner, and Jess, our Early Childhood Support, to facilitate learning for young children and their families in accessing Kindred Kids’ services.

I have always been a passionate advocate for all children and their right to play, feel

safe, and experience a quality start to life. I have worked with children from birth to

twelve years of age for the last ten years. In 2015, I graduated with my Bachelor of

Education (Early Childhood) and have been in a range of roles throughout my career.

Some of these roles included being an Early Childhood Teacher /Director for a

community-based kindergarten, an Early Childhood Teacher in long daycare settings, a

classroom teacher in Queensland State Schools, and as part of the leadership team in

the role of an Educational Leader in long-day care services to support and guide

educators to implement high quality practices.

Part of my philosophy as an early childhood teacher is supporting inclusive practices through my understanding of the research around Circle of Security and that

all behaviour is a form of communication. I’m passionate about developing children’s

confidence and seeing children as active citizens of our community. Early intervention

plays a huge part in children’s overall development, and I believe that with the right

support and training for educators in early childhood settings, we can support all

children to access a quality, play-based curriculum and achieve strong outcomes for

their learning. This is the reason for my transition to an early intervention role. My hope for my work with Kindred Kids is to help guide educators and other early childhood professionals that work with young children, continue to further upskill my knowledge and understanding of

effective strategies for young children with autism, and work alongside a team that is passionate about making long-lasting change for all children and families in the

community.

I look forward to working with you and your child in 2024!

Sam
